Govani's
story

Lion Govani rescued from filthy cage car

Lion Govani was used in a Spanish circus along with his consort Silas and tiger Keni. When the circus stopped using them, the animals were left in their filthy cage cars full of excrement.

Govani was in a wretched state. Not only was he emaciated, but his nails were pulled out and his teeth were smashed. From all the stress, he had bitten off a piece of his own tail. When we found him, Govani was so weakened and famished, he could hardly walk and the poor animal had wounds everywhere.

In 2018, the animals’ years of tragic existence in the filthy cage cars came to an end and they were brought to AAP Primadomus, our rescue centre in Spain. Here began a long road to recovery.
