Connection with AAP
Jane shared a special connection with AAP. First through our founders, Okko and Riga Reussien, later through our former director David van Gennep. Whenever we reached out, she responded with wholehearted support for our mission.
In 2009, for instance, she became patron of our Spanish rescue centre and attended its official opening. She actively encouraged Spanish authorities to grant us permission to care for rescued chimpanzees and other primates in Spain.
Jane also visited our rescue centre in Almere on several occasions and kindly recorded a heartfelt video message in celebration of AAP’s 50th anniversary.
Inspiration for many
Despite her advanced age, Jane remained tireless in spreading her vital message: we must never lose hope. She reminded us that each and every day, we have the power to make a difference—something we at AAP will continue to do for exotic mammals in need.
Dear Jane, thank you for everything you have done for the animals and for making the world a better place. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Heartfelt video message
