Follow the recovery of rescued lions with ‘cub cam’

AAP is giving everyone the chance to watch the recovery of the nine lion cubs AAP rescued from a French circus. Through the ‘cub cam’, viewers can witness their first steps towards a better life after they were recently taken away from the circus along with three adult lions from the miserable conditions.

From abuse to recovery

The care of the young lions, now in quarantine at AAP Spain, is in the hands of the specialised team of caretakers and vets. Normally, they are the only ones who see them, but thanks to the ‘cub cam’, everyone can now witness the ups and downs of these animals. Rehabilitation is a time-consuming process that is difficult to capture in a few photos or videos. That is why we decided to share this part of their process – from suffering to recovery – with everyone via the ‘cubcam’.

Neglected lions

When the lions arrived at AAP, it quickly became clear how neglected they were. They were emaciated and suffering from a range of health problems, including untreated infections and broken bones. This is the result of poor diet and overcrowding in the circus. These lions are yet another example of the cruel suffering of animals in circuses. A brutal world where the welfare of wild animals is secondary to profit. Entertainment with animals such as lions, tigers and elephants is still central to many circuses.

AAP continues to campaign for a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses across Europe. The ‘cub cam’ is a powerful tool to raise public awareness of the long road they have to travel before they are animals again.
